Meet the Coach | Alan Cafferty

Alan Cafferty’s story is a true example of a family business that has been thriving for generations. Growing up in Winsted, MN, Alan was introduced to the world of automotive at an early age. His father Bryan started the family-owned business in 1935, and Alan learned everything from pumping gas to small engine repair under his father’s watchful eye.

After high school, Alan went to college on a full scholarship but was called back home to help his family with the business due to his parents’ health issues. He became the manager and lead technician of the repair shop, handling all day-to-day issues that came with running a business.

In 1990, Alan met his future wife JoLynn, and they married a year later. With a growing family, Alan knew he had to take the business more seriously, but he struggled to find the right coaching program to help him grow his small-town shop. After trying five different companies over ten years, he found the perfect fit with Dave Justice, Mike McGroarty, and Greg Palmier.

In 2006, at the age of 87, Alan’s father agreed to sell him the business. Alan implemented all the ideas he had learned, and the shop finally felt like a complete business with processes in place to succeed. But he still felt like there was something missing until Dave Justice introduced him to Repair Shop of Tomorrow (RSOT).

With the Done 4 You systems that RSOT provided, the business boomed, and Alan never looked back. It was the best business decision he ever made. Today, Alan enjoys spending time with his wife, three daughters, three sons-in-law, and seven grandchildren, the biggest “WHY” in his life.

Alan is now a coach at RSOT, and he believes in helping others succeed just as he did. He knows what it takes to run a successful automotive repair shop, and he wants to pass that knowledge onto others. His story is an inspiration to many, showing that hard work, dedication, and the right coaching program can help anyone achieve their goals.
